Our
Story
The Link cultural association was founded in 2003 by a group of young people passionate about their local area but also eager to foster openness to other cultural contexts and the promotion of values such as solidarity, active citizenship, and intercultural dialogue.
In nearly 15 years of activity, Link has built a network of youth organizations, institutions, and other entities active in over 30 European countries. It has sent approximately 3,000 young people on projects abroad and hosted approximately 2,000 on projects in Italy, in partnership with numerous organizations in Puglia and Basilicata.
Activity Pillars
PILLAR 1
Visual Media and Digital Literacy
In the third year (2025) the core topic is about creating New Narratives to raise awareness, promote and support the preservation of cultural landscapes in marginalized rural areas. Volunteers will be provided with skills about video making and visual media products called “guerrilla filmmaking” which is a method to produce visual media using materials and non-professional equipment. In this case we are going to use our phones and any other film making equipment already available
PILLAR 2
Digitalisation of Cultural Heritage
Is about creating a digital archive of traditional sustainable practices of human/nature connection. Volunteers will support the whole process of digitalization from physically identifying the sites, rediscovering their history, exploring long forgotten traditions and practices, creating podcasts and video interviews.
PILLAR 3
Outreach Local Community
Volunteers will have a change to create events in the local villages nearby, to attract attention to the project and work we are doing and get in touch with locals, discovering a lot of insights. Those events will focus on involving the local communities through workshops / actions related to cultural landscape promotion and protection, and storytelling.
About Us
Associazione Culturale Link is a cultural organization created in 2003 by both experienced youth leaders and young people. We provide help and training to young people –inside and outside the organization - who wants to implement new
projects fostering their participation through the organization of international youth exchanges, intercultural
learning activities, information campaigns and workshops about various topics.
Democracy, active participation, inclusion, valorization of voluntary commitment and differences are the
principles that regulate the life of the association and its projects and activities.
