Our first days in Altamura have been even better than expected.
Once we settled in with some icebreaker games, we set to work on 3 projects:
- Designing and putting together a deckchair for even better afternoon siestas
- Making a Disc golf table (a game involving throwing a frisbee at a hoop)
- And lots of painting! Everything from a new sign for the Agorateca to a lively coat of paint for the birdhouses
There’s something incredibly fulfilling about watching your ideas come to life and becoming active members of Link’s unique community.
We’ve all landed in this little pocket of Italy, coming from different parts of Europe with different backgrounds, languages, and experiences. So, in the last week we’ve had loads to talk about. Having such a breadth of nationalities makes for a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere. We love to cook – and drink ;) –together, we explore new places, and, last week-end, we even had the chance to swim at Bari’s sandy beach.
Apart from getting to know the town, the apartment, Agorateca and the team, we also had a week of media training. This was to prepare us for conducting interviews with the local artisans and workers we're going to meet over the next few weeks. We started by learning how podcasting works and what's important to know. We also learned how to conduct a proper interview, how to ask good, open questions, and how to actively listen to the answers and conversations in order to make them dynamic and interesting.
As part of the training, some of us had the opportunity to teach others the basics of using a camera to take different types of photos. We also learned how to make videos, and got to explore and practise with the material we will use for the interviews over the next few weeks. The final part of the training involved learning how drones work and how to use them. We experienced the simulators before having the opportunity to try one outside. The goal is to make some aerial videos of the places we will visit for our final project, which we will reveal in a few weeks.
Currently, we are preparing interview questions and learning multi-media techniques ahead of next week’s intense interviewing schedule.
More to come soon <3
